It all started one evening about two decades ago in the lower level of Ottawa’s old Talisman Hotel… I paid $10 to listen to Dr. Effie Chow, a Qigong Master, talk about “energy.” That evening I was riveted as I watched Master Chow move a hulk of a man unwillingly 30 feet backwards against a wall just using her intent and energy… Realize Dr. Chow was barely 5 feet high, weighing in at 100 pounds, wearing a red suit and high heels… I couldn’t believe what I saw.
I learned so much in that short presentation. Master Chow demonstrated the impact of positive and negative words and how they could not only destroy a body’s energy (mine!) but also impact the energy of my audience’s as well. At that time I was in the middle of writing a teacher’s guide that was going to be distributed to 100,000 teachers. After that night I changed the words and rewrote the guide. Fascinated, I wanted to learn more…
My second teacher was Donna Eden (Eden Energy Method) who taught how energy techniques could alter one’s energetic vibration. Under her careful and wise tutelage I became an Eden Energy Practitioner. I loved the fact that with simple tools: my hands, I could impact subtle yet powerful body energies… I also studied as a teacher in the Eden Method wanting my clients not only realise how very powerful they were but to understand they could do much to heal themselves.
Along the way I explored other healing modalities including Reiki.
I also realized how creativity could be a powerful energy source. It allowed my clients to connect very deeply within — to that place in the heart that cries out to be heard. My mentoring practice broadened.
Then I got Lyme disease. I became a vegetable as it hit my brain and my central nervous system. Lyme is one of those diseases that Western medicine (certainly in Canada) doesn’t know how to resolve. It was clear that this chronic degenerative disease was eating away at my life force.
I searched wildly for answers/tools but the disease was winning. Finally it was a few words in an article written by one of Dr. Jeffrey Yuen’s students on Google that referenced Lyme Disease and “Divergent Channels” that shifted my search. Perhaps Dr. Yuen could help…
That led me to Classical Chinese Medicine, what Master Yuen has been teaching world-wide for decades. I learned that Jeffrey Yuen is one of the most sought-after teachers of Classical Chinese Medicine. He is an 88th generation Daoist priest from the Jade Purity School.
Master Yuen not only was a key figure in the development of the acupuncture program at the Swedish Institute in New York and the first Ph.D. program in the field of Classical Chinese Medicine at the American University of Complementary Medicine, he is recognized internationally as a Master of acupuncture, Classical Chinese Medicine, Daoism, Chinese herbology, Tai Chi Chuan, and Qi Gong.
Part of the amazing energy work he teaches involves revitalizing the older energy channels of the body that are no longer taught in “modern” Chinese Medicine (T.C.M.) Known as Classical Chinese Medicine (C.C.C.), these are channels of energy where diseases can be released, enhanced or moved into latency…older, almost sacred channels that allow deep change to occur within the body’s energy field and, with that, often great healing.
Ann Cecil-Sterman and Andrew Sterman, both long-time students of Dr. Jeffrey Yuen and Classical Chinese Medicine, became my guides. Ann took over my care. She taught me the power of these ancient energy channels, reminded me of the power of my words and thoughts and helped me shift to a body that could heal. We worked remotely, my body strengthened.
Again through this Classical Chinese Medicine lens, Andrew Sterman (Ann’s husband), taught me how the digestive system needs to function to reverse any severe issue in the body. Each intertwined with the other. Each building the terrain within my body to get well.
I got hooked on this knowledge and wanted to learn more. Fast forward, I am now enrolled as a Channel Practitioner mentoring with Ann, learning the depth of this forgotten energy knowledge found within Classical Chinese Medicine which I share with my clients. This is work of the Spirit, of the heart.
I am forever grateful to this energy collective who have so kindly and open-heartedly helped me to come home to my deepest self, to that place of peace within.
As I sit at the feet of all these energy masters, I quietly take my place being a Spirit companion to many beautiful clients world-wide. I am finally home.
