Mentoring Via Kindness, Creativity & Spirit

Welcome! I am so pleased you are here.

Do you have a twinkle in your eyes? That light in the eyes is called Shen in Chinese Medicine. It’s when your heart and mind are aligned on a life path. So my work is to enhance your Shen, your Spirit, your life-force. How? By empowering you through a greater knowledge and appreciation of the magic that you are. Simply put: I gently nudge you along with energetic tools and techniques that have worked for me.

Who are you?

Who are you beneath all the external pressures of life, family and work… Or beneath the dis-ease and/or difficulties of life’s adventures?

My goal (in our work together) is for you to be happier, healthier. To be able to touch hope, freedom and joy (again). To close down the fear that (somedays) echoes every step. To experience a richer calmer life. Age well. With grace.

I am passionate about energy and the beauty of the human spirit: its strengths, its vulnerabilities, its power. And the body’s deep desire not only to heal itself, but to be at peace.

As an energy channel practitioner our work together is deeply personal, often touching the sacred.

Energy is all that we are. Balanced, it becomes the fuel that moves us towards our Destiny. Unbalanced, we get stuck or off track.

So this privileged work is all about raising your energetic vibration, of rekindling the twinkle in your eyes and helping you to come home to your vibrant Spirit.

My mentoring focusses on “Spirit.” For me that means a State of Peace within… (it has no religious connotation).

What I try to do is give my clients guidance so that they can maintain a State of Peace. Some call me a spiritual director, some call me an energy healer, some call me a mentor. I call myself privileged.

“All illnesses and chronic

diseases are caused,

over time,

by an unsettled Spirit.”

Ann Cecil-Sterman / Dr. Jeffrey Yuen

Testimonials

I have been working with Helene Anne for a while now. The work she does has changed the way I think about things. My perception, my reaction to life’s happenings have completely altered. I am more at peace.

She has lovingly guided me to a truer, more genuine self. she opens her heart and soul while gently showing you the way. Thank you dear lady. B.L.

Helene is an incredible mentor, who has truly helped change my life, by giving me more confidence in my gifts as a highly sensitive person.

She has given me knowledge, tools, and guidance as I’ve navigated many unknowns, changes and opportunities. She inspires me to use my sensitivity to help others, as she has done for so many. R.B.

I have been working with Helene Anne regularly for 1.5 years. She is one of the most incredible women I know: smart, intuitive, care and a character!

Helene Anne’s highly successful and effective brand of mentorship combines working with the body’s energies, the brain and the heart… When all of these channels are open and fluid (and Helene Anne does this oh so well) we move forward from a place of authenticity and strength… V.C.

I must say, today was such a blessing. I still feel a calmness, with the excitement of our day but gently. I have been seeking a mentor for some time. Not really knowing how to or who I should seek out but as the universe does, it set me on a path leading to your zen-like studio in the Gatineau Hills.

I just have the best time with you. So enlightening, so inspiring, so comforting and safe… like coming home. Not only do I feel a beautiful kinship with you, You have made my visions clearer and valid/worthy enough to bring to life. B.D.

People often ask how I got hooked on energy… It all started…

one evening about two decades ago in the lower level of Ottawa’s old Talisman Hotel… I paid $10 to listen to Dr. Effie Chow, a Qigong Master, talk about “energy.” That evening I was riveted as I watched Master Chow move a hulk of a man unwillingly 30 feet backwards against a wall just using her intent and energy… Realize Dr. Chow was barely 5 feet high, weighing in at 100 pounds, wearing a red suit and high heels…more

CLASSICAL CHINESE MEDICINE (AN INTERPRETATION)

Copyright: Helene Anne Fortin

Did you ever experience an “aha” moment that led you to profound healing, to profound change?

That’s what happened to me in my initial encounter with Classical Chinese Medicine.

For some, these “aha” moments come in a dream or a few lines in a book, or an encounter with an extraordinary person or, perhaps, a deep knowing within. Mine was when I found 7 words in a google search.

As I calmed, my second thought was to look at what was happening to me through a Classical Chinese Medicine (C.C.M.) lens. More…

BLACK TOES, DEEP FEAR, ICE COLD

Copyright: Helene Anne Fortin

My mind is a powerful place.  It can heal me. It can also make me sick.

One morning I looked at my toes and realized that many of them were turning black or very dark blue!

Prior to this, I had noticed redness on certain toes on my left foot but now the whole mess had “jumped” to my right foot and the color had darkened suddenly. It did not look good.

My first thought was to panic.

I consulted my Western medical doctor who took photos of my “interesting” toes and sent me off for a myriad of tests. All negative so far. I was thankful that she took such action.

As I calmed, my second thought was to look at what was happening to me through a Classical Chinese Medicine (C.C.M.) lens. More…

Dead Red Begonias

and musings about being human and war and peace at 5 am

Copyright: Helene Anne Fortin

It’s 5 am. My best writing time. The darkness is lifting.

Here in my Quebec artists’ village by the Gatineau River sparkles of new frost cover my begonias.

I have this strange ritual. In late October, as the season dances from summer to fall to impending winter (and greater darkness), I try to protect my riot of red begonia flowers from early frost by covering them with assorted colourful tea towels before dropping temperatures and nightfall set in. Like hovering ghosts, these big toweled begonia pots dot my deck.

I am resisting their death. I am fighting for their survival. I believe.

Last night I forgot my tea towel ritual and know my red begonias have been usurped by the frost, returned to the earth for regeneration. So this is a simple musing is about my resistance to things, about learning to let go, about accepting change and the actions of others. As simple as “saving” my begonias from frost. And as complex as accepting differing opinions of others with whom I do not see eye to eye. More…

CREATIVITY SANCTUARY

Copyright: Helene Anne Fortin

I live in a creativity sanctuary. I am in my 70s, and have devoted my life to taking a different path. I dance between being an artist and a healer.

I have no choice. I was driven.

I love both sides of me (most days.)  In my work, I humbly attempt to bring more beauty to the world, to help others see that beauty within and without, and for them to realize (via my portraiture and healing) that they too are magnificent, beauty-filled and powerful in a gentle kind of way.

This body we own—this “energy” being—is like a beacon.  When we are on our rightful path there is a light illuminated inside that is reflected through the eyes.

What illuminates you, your life, your journey?

As a human being I also dance between worry and overthinking and euphoria some days. To be honest, that worry can be pushed into absolute fear in certain moments having a huge impact on my energetic and physical health.  More

A GOOD DAY TO DIE

Copyright: Helene Anne Fortin

Yesterday morning I was walking with Z (Zaza bear) (my crazy 2-year old Old English Sheepdog pup… aka Zara the thief – the mastermind of stealth who constantly steals my dinner) and thinking it was a good day to die.

It was the perfect spring day in my little artists’ village in Wakefield Quebec as I walked the edge of the Gatineau River. The gift of sunshine (after long dark winter months) warmed my face. The softest breeze touched my cheek, the gentlest of kisses on the forehead.

The day my mom died had a similar feel. It was earlier in the day though in-between time: the dawning around 4 a.m. The paintbrush of light just offering definition. More…

Winds of Change

I didn’t arrive at birth with a life manual. Nope. I must have forgotten it. I was busy pushing into this beautiful chaotic world. Anyway, I didn’t have any pockets being naked.

I think we are here to create the manual. The manual of our existence. The manual of our healing. The manual of our Destiny if we are lucky.

I am an Energy Channel Practitioner trained under a long lineage of brilliant energy masters. I am “in training” in this complex study of Classical Chinese Medicine (C.C.M.) and will be till I die. Never a Master but an apprentice. Just as I am with my life manual.

Walk with me into my world for a few minutes…

Last week in my Quebecois Village I stood on the banks of my Gatineau River. Here in Canada, we are in deep autumn. As I stood surrounded by leaves turning yellow-gold, an amazing breeze danced… More

Death by (Unresolved) Emotions

Copyright Helene Anne Fortin

Ok so there’s a small lump above my right breast. It’s been there before, disappeared, but now it is back. For those of you who know energy meridians, it is near the beginning of the Lung meridian. On the chest above the breast tissue. It feels fluidy.

Now my body is always giving me signs when something is amiss. This brilliant body has its own language. Here I am at 76 still learning to translate what I am being told. That’s kind of my job as an energy practitioner.  Yet why is it so easy to hear other people’s bodies but not my own??? Perhaps I am deaf – or simply not listening?  If I don’t listen, it will send bigger, more tangible messages – a lump.

So the Classical Chinese Medicine (C.C.C.) that I study tells me that anything to do with the Lung Meridian is linked to grief, sadness, longing…unresolved.

When I am asked by my wonderful C.C.M. practitioner (Healer Henry) “Is there sadness in your life?” More

Food for Life: Through the Chinese Medicine Lens

About 12 years ago I got struck down by Lyme Disease. I followed the Western medical route and ended up at the Centre for Disease Control (C.D.C.) hoping to get a diagnosis and some semblance of relief.

Why was I seeking help? To put it bluntly, it was like my previously well-functioning high-energy body had been taken over by an alien: night sweats drenched my body from head to toe to the point where I would be changing sheets over and over throughout the night.

And then there were these thousands of ants (that’s what it felt like) running up and down my spine making sleep impossible for months on end. And finally, the brain fog that rendered me a vegetable. The Centre for Disease control (C.D.C.) dismissed me saying it was all in my head.

I live in Canada in a crazy tick-infested area. The Canadian medical approach is that Lyme disease does not exist. More…

Direct Messaging (DM) Dog

Copyright: Helene Anne Fortin

OMG the tube of deep rich paint is missing… It’s one of those extra concentrated ones. Deep purple.

I’ve searched everywhere. What did she do with it… that new fluffy puppy Zara who invaded my studio four weeks ago.

She hides things in her “nest”: an ever-growing collection of toys, blankets, stuffies and every single loose mat in my studio.

The white paint tube has been found thankfully. But the floor in the kitchen has become an abstract masterpiece of white paint and paw prints. Yet the purple paint tube remains carefully hidden.

Zara (I’ve come to realize) is a direct messaging (D.M.) dog. Pay attention to me or watch out. Walking into my office just now she announces her water dish needs filling (there’s a big empty water bowl in her mouth).  Definitely a D.M. dog…

This dog reminds me of how chronic diseases or other unexplained health issues arise. Just like a loud fearful siren yelling at us to stop, these are direct…More…

Worry & Over-Thinking

Copyright Helene Anne Fortin

For decades I was the queen of worry. I could worry at any time, day or night, consciously or unconsciously, standing up or sitting down.

Truth be told that worry and its buddy, over-thinking, had eaten away at my energy for decades. I wanted desperately out of that cyle. This is how I got myself, my health AND my zest for life back… perhaps you can do the same.

For a decade now, I have been studying the brilliance of Chinese Medicine (CM). I love the way CM sees us as a whole: body, mind and spirit. How it understands what heavy and constant emotions do to our long-term well-being. More…

Creativity: Your Journey Home

And my client wrote,

“I’m writing to you in the middle of a 24-hour shift (as an EMT) at the ambulance station. It involves a lot of sitting around in between calls.

The fluorescent lights are humming a low buzz, a pizza box is cracked open on the table in front of me with the scent of greasy pepperoni seeping into the air, the big screen TV is turned on in the corner of the room at high volume, and I can’t find anything safe or remotely soothing to look at.

I’m uncomfortable. Uncomfortable in this building, uncomfortable in my body, and uncomfortable in my life. I have spent the last four days obsessing over how to stop bingeing. More…

The Season of Peace

Copyright Helene Anne Fortin

Deep within the philosophy of Chinese Medicine is the concept that we humans replicate the seasons and the external world within our bodies.

This is a metaphoric view of not only how connected we are to Mother Earth but that we are HER. And that the illnesses or dis-eases we mirror within often reflect what happens outside our window.

We, as energy beings, are sponges. We often happily allow the energy outside our door to permeate our lives without ever realizing its deadly impact (i.e., the news) on our well-being.

Inside our world – yours and mine – are the seasons of our life, our personalities, our health issues as well as our pre-destined life. More…

You are a Marvel…

You are a Marvel – Words written by the great Pablo Casals,

And what do we teach our children? We teach them that two and two make four, and that Paris is the capital of France.

When will we also teach them what they are? We should say to each of them: Do you know what you are? You are a marvel. You are unique. In all the years that have passed, there has never been another child like you. Your legs, your arms, your clever fingers, the way you move. You may become a Shakespeare, a Michaelangelo, a Beethoven. You have the capacity for anything.” Pablo Casals
